The candidate requirements:

  • Must be between 18 and 29 years old;
  • Must have a high school certificate;
  • Must speak English confidently;
  • Must have a visa permission.

About visa:

The type of visa depends on the length of time the au pair candidate would like to stay in the country. To stay longer than 6 months, the au pair must apply for a student visa, and enroll in a course at a Chinese University, language school, or any course that is not a short-term.

To apply for the visa (independent of the type of the visa) the au pair candidate has to have:

  1. passport valid for at least 10 months, a photocopy of the pages with photo and personal information;
  2. Completed application document. (It is possible to obtain this document on the Chinese Embassy visa application page);
  3. Invitation letter from the host family;
  4. A contract already signed for both (the candidate and the host family).

Invitation letter:

The au pair candidate needs this letter before applying for the visa. The Chinese government requires the au pair candidate to present this letter. It can be issued by an au pair agency registered in China or by the host family. The letter must contain the following information:

  • The au pair candidate's personal information includes full name, date of birth, gender, the purpose of going to China, arrival and departure date, place of stay, relationship with the organization that invited you, and sources of expenses during your stay in China.
  • Host family's information: Host family's name, contact number, address, host organization seal, as well as the signature of the host organization.
  • The candidate must require the invitation letter to the host family, BEFORE applying for the visa.

Info bonus:

1- Visa processing time is 4 business days;

2- A student visa does not allow the candidate to work in China;

3- If the au pair candidate wishes to leave the country during your exchange program, or visit Macau and Hong Kong, he or she will need at least a double entry visa.
