If you are following my articles, you know I've been writing about how amazing it is to live in another country and experience another culture. American culture is fascinating - from the people's way of life to their preferences, food, and holidays. In short, their lifestyle.

Today, I'm not here to discuss modern American culture. Instead, I want to talk about elderly Americans who preserve their traditions and roots. Are you ready for this amazing adventure ?? Let's go!

I was living in Philadelphia, PA, in 2012. I was studying English, and one day at school, our teacher suggested we visit the Amish Village. It was an eye-opening experience that offered insight into a distinctive manner of living. This is the kind of experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

The Amish are known for their conservatism, a strong sense of living in community, also for living separated from non-amish people. They make their clothes, produce toys and furniture, and grow their vegetables and fruits. They don't have any kind of electricity, and they are reluctant to adopt other kinds of modern conveniences.  The community that I visited is named “Lancaster County” and is one of the biggest and oldest ones in the United States. It is around one hour and a half from Philadelphia, and it's an amazing short trip to do with your friends. You will experience first-hand how the people lived in the 1800s.

In conclusion, visiting the Amish Village was a truly eye-opening experience that allowed me to witness a way of life rooted in tradition and simplicity. Exploring their community reminded me of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and living harmoniously with nature.
